Local support groups have been formed by our members over the years. It can often be very comforting for sufferers of the conditions to meet others in their area who have Raynaud’s and/or scleroderma.
Eastleigh
The Eastleigh support group is very informal and provides a chance for people to chat to one another and discuss their treatments and problems. Even if anyone doesn’t want to talk they can still listen to other people and learn from them.
South Cumbria
The South Cumbria support group have each others phone numbers so that they can make contact if they wish, for support or just a listening ear, which can be really important. They are a great source of encouragement to each other.
Manchester
The Manchester local contact group have a fantastic time raising funds and sharing ideas. They have become great friends and offer support for each other in times of need.
Bath
The Bath group started in 2002 with a group of Association members. They now meet a couple of times a year. Members come from a wide area including Wiltshire, Bath, Bristol and Yate. They exist primarily as a mutual support group, finding it helpful to talk to others who understand the condition and to exchange information. Their ages range from 50 upwards and between them they experience a wide variety of symptoms.
Northern Ireland
The Northern Ireland Group was formed to help patients make contact with each other for mutual support and encouragement in dealing with Raynaud’s and scleroderma. Members are encouraged to raise awareness through distributing posters and other leaflets. The social contact between members and the help they can provide to each other has proved invaluable.
North East
This group, which comprises of members from Northumberland, Tyne and Wear and County Durham, meets twice a year. Since it started, meetings have been held in Middlesbrough, Darlington and Durham and in recent years in Gateshead, due to demand being concentrated in this area. Notification of meetings is sent out to its members at the beginning of the year. Members of the group enjoy sharing ideas, experiences and support. Friendship is the group’s hallmark and they always meet in a warm room.
