Fundraising for the Raynaud’s & Scleroderma Association (RSA) is a great way of helping to raise money for research into Raynaud’s and scleroderma. If you have a fundraising idea, we can help you achieve your goal. With your help, we can make a positive impact on the lives of people who have these conditions.
Where to start
You may already know what fundraising you would like to do, in which case don't delay in starting with your preparations. Think of everyone you know who can help you with your event. You can call the RSA to request publicity materials such as sponsorship forms, posters and leaflets as well as to ask advice on how to organise your activity to ensure your efforts are successful.
If you are struggling for inspiration below are a few ideas:
Sporting Event
Challenge yourself by taking part in a sport, which you enjoy whether it be the Great North Run, a Tandem Skydive, the New York Marathon or sponsored cricket match. With an event like this we would recommend that you get as much sponsor money in advance as possible to save time later. Justgiving.com is a good way to ensure collection of the money upfront.
Strut your stuff on the cat walk
Think twice before throwing away your old clothes. Why not customise them to use in a fashion show? Maybe your friends could also do some modelling for the show. Charge an entry fee and consider auctioning off a few of the outfits at the end of the night.
Guest speaker
Invite a guest speaker to give a free talk to your social group or in a local hall. Sell admission tickets to raise money.
Beetle Drive
Organise a beetle drive in your local hall or community centre. It will prove to be a fun night out and a simple and cost effective way to raise money for the RSA.
Host your own dinner party
Rustle up something tasty and invite guests to sample your culinary delights whilst giving a donation to the RSA.
Quiz night
Fancy stepping into John Humphrys shoes for a night? Then why not host your own Mastermind show at home? Alternatively, have fun playing your own version of Catchphrase. Each participant pays to enter.
Auctions and raffles
These are always popular – why not get your friends, family and local businesses to donate goods, which you can then raffle or auction. Be imaginative and make sure the goods are sold at a reasonable price.
Celebrating a Birthday or Anniversary?
If you are about to celebrate a landmark why not request donations in lieu of presents? It is a great way to raise money for the RSA.
Put on a show
Organise a show and audience members pay an entrance fee. Ask everybody you know to sponsor your event; friends, family, neighbours, work colleagues etc.

Fundraising at work
Get your colleagues involved by organising a fundraiser in work. Below are a few examples:
Famous for a day
Encourage your colleagues to put the names of their favourite celebrities into a hat and pay to pick a name. You really have to try to be the person you select, for example, by adopting their mannerisms or even coming to work in fancy dress.
Who's the baby?
Get everyone to bring in a photo of themselves as babies, then charge a small fee to guess their identities.
Sponsored dress down day
Pay £2 to come to work in casual clothes.
Organise collections
Organising collections within your company can be a really simple but effective way of raising funds for the RSA.
Corporate fundraising
Working with the Raynaud’s & Scleroderma Association (RSA) can benefit your organisation by demonstrating corporate social responsibility.
There are also many ways that your business can raise money at an organisation level, such as:
Matched Giving Scheme
If you are taking part in a sponsored event ask your company if they could match your sponsorship - lots of companies operate a Matched Giving Scheme up to a certain amount.
Make us your Charity of the Year
If your company or sports club supports one specific charity each year why not choose the RSA as your Charity of the Year. To find out more about the work of the Raynaud’s & Scleroderma Association click here.
