South West Coastal Walk 

edserwebSue Edser from Southampton decided to raise funds for the RSA by walking the 630 mile South West Coastal Path, to support her sister, Caroline Adams who has scleroderma. She set off in June and completed the challenge in August raising over £4,000 for the ‘Cool Million Appeal’. To visit Sue’s fundraising page click here.





Woodland Inspirations

woodlandRSA member Sue Bloomfield began to take daily walks with her dog in Caer Llan Wood, Monmouth. Inspired by the flora and fauna of the woods, she produced a collection of poetry and paintings which she has now published in a book called Woodland Inspirations. Many thanks to Sue for all her efforts in publishing this delightful book and to Professor Dame Carol Black for her contribution. Sue has asked for all the proceeds to be given to the RSA. Burton on Trent Support Group

burtonAnne Mawdsley was presented with a cheque for £1000 at the 5th Anniversary meeting of the Burton on Trent Support Group. Pilates Fundraiser

Double Anniversary Celebration

dawson_webPictured left are Brian and Georgina Dawson celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary together with Eileen and George Roberts who were celebrating their Platinum Wedding Anniversary. The two couples kindly raised £250 for the RSA by requesting donations in lieu of presents to mark this auspicious occasion.






Swimming for Charity

dreddingsDanny Reddings had planned to complete the Great North Swim in September but the event  was cancelled due to blue-green algae. However, not to be put off, he managed to complete the 1 mile swim in open water at the Manor Sailing Club in Staffordshire with the aid of the Meynell Hunters Triathalon Club. Danny said: “It was a brilliant experience and I managed to complete the mile in 41 minutes”. Danny’s fundraising efforts raised nearly £1,500 for the RSA.


Bypass Walk

bridgetfergusonBridget Ferguson took Percy (the RSA mascot) on the Alderley Edge Bypass Walk, for which they were both sponsored to the tune of £300. Many thanks to you both!

 

 

 


Golden Wedding Anniversary

Great Scottish Half Marathon

London Marathon

goddardglennwebGlenn Marshall (pictured left) raised £3,450.06 for the RSA in memory of Derek Marshall through taking part in the London Marathon. Jeremy Goddard (pictured right) raised £1,620. We would also like to thank Louise Langmead and James Harris who took part. Together the 4 runners raised over £8,000.

 

 


Pink Beard for Charity

Skipping Mania

skipAndy Mawdsley came up with the idea of raising money for the RSA by organising a World Record attempt for children skipping simultaneously for 3 minutes. Approximately 49,000young people in Staffordshire and Lincolnshire took part. At the RSA Conference Andy announced that the World Record had now been approved and he presented the Trustees with a cheque for £10,000 which was raised by the skip.
